In order to ensure food safety in Taiwan, the Food and Drug Administration(FDA) initiated a series of test on disposable chopsticks. The FDA conducted the test and used random samples of chopsticks from 172 stores. A total of 225 different disposable items were tested. All but 4 items were up to industry standards. All 4 disposable chopsticks were all made in Vietnam.
Experts say consuming food with these chopsticks may result in nausea, diarrhea and vomiting. The FDA suggests using chopsticks that are not too pale and check if they are mouldy. To completely avoid this problem, one should bring reusable chopsticks.
