Mayor of Taipei apologizes for yellow water

Typhoon Soudalor has left, but the problems it stirred up still remains.

Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je (柯文哲) has been criticized over the clean-up after Typhoon Soudalor. Upon the departure of Soudalor, it destroyed homes in Wulai, flooded parts of Taipei, and littered the streets of Taipei with broken tree trunks and branches. During the typhoon, the initial decision was not to discharge Feitsui Dam. This consequently caused the water supply to be contaminated as the city provided “yellow water” for the next couple of days.

On Saturday, August 15th, Mayor Ko Wen-je apologized to the public stating, “A mistake is a mistake, the results weren’t good, so I should apologize”.
