Far Eastern Air Transport flight 061 almost ran out of gas on route from TSA (松山機場, SongShan Airport) to KNH (金門機場, Kinsmen Airport). The flight was reportedly turned back from KNH back to TSA due to weather conditions. It safely landed but when technicians were fuelling up the aircraft, they discovered that the fuel was well below the fuel reserve requirement. To make matters worse, the pilots did not even alarm air traffic control.
Aviation experts say that these pilots had some guts for staying in the air with fuel that was going to last no more than 20 minutes. It is also uncommon for pilots to stay in flight for that long with insufficient fuel. The Civil Aeronautics Administration has issued warnings for Far Eastern Air Transport.
